MindUP programme reaches more than 7 million children across 48 countries

The brain-based initiative was established by actor Goldie Hawn in 2003 to help children manage stress and emotions.

The MindUP programme has reached more than 7 million children in 48 countries, according to a profile published by the ASU+GSV Summit on February 13, 2026, as reported by the Times of India.

The initiative was created through the Goldie Hawn Foundation, which the actor established in 2003 to address concerns regarding youth depression, suicide, and school violence.

MindUP combines neuroscience, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning to provide children aged 3 to 14 with tools to handle everyday challenges.

The curriculum, developed with neuroscientists, educators, psychologists, and researchers, helps students understand brain functions to better regulate emotions and reduce stress.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Global Health Initiative supports the programme, which includes an animated version of its first unit, Understanding the Brain, to increase accessibility.

The programme's resources are now available through an interactive online learning platform for educators and families.
