Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Sunday that the state government will start a campaign on December 1 to encourage people to voluntarily contribute towards the electricity subsidy. The current scheme provides 125 units of free electricity every month to 1.92 crore families across various economic backgrounds. The government provides an annual subsidy of approximately Rs 10,000 per family under this programme. Choudhary compared the appeal to the Prime Minister's previous request for citizens to voluntarily give up LPG subsidies.

Choudhary said several announcements and MoUs are expected during the visit.

During his address, Choudhary also mentioned the Prime Minister's visit to Bastar, Chhattisgarh, to celebrate Diwali with security forces. He remarked that under the Prime Minister's leadership, the country is moving towards becoming Naxal-free. He concluded by extending Diwali greetings to the people of Bihar.
