Over 100,000 apps now optimised for iPhone Duo, says Apple

The foldable device has seen thousands of daily app updates since its launch two weeks ago.

Apple has announced that more than 100,000 applications are now optimised for the iPhone Duo, according to a report by India Today. The foldable device, which runs iOS 27.1, went on sale two weeks ago.

Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, stated that the company is encouraged by how quickly developers are adopting the new form factor. She noted that the number of optimised apps on the App Store is growing as developers increase updates for the foldable device.

Some users have reported interface issues with certain applications on the larger display. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri previously described the foldable as a tricky form factor, noting that even apps with Apple's optimisation label have faced interface problems.

Apps that lack specific updates may appear in small windows with empty space or stretch layouts across the wide screen, causing buttons and images to look misplaced.

Apple is urging developers to use the iOS 27.1 software development kit (SDK) to help applications adapt as the device is folded or unfolded. The company has also provided tools in Xcode to assist developers in testing layout and resizing issues.
