Airstrikes on Yemen market kill at least 30, Houthis say

The Houthi Health Ministry blamed Saudi-led coalition aircraft for the deadly attack on the Hadara market in Taiz province.

At least 30 people were killed and eight people were wounded after airstrikes hit a market in the al-Waziyah district of Taiz province on Friday, according to The Hindu.

The Houthi Health Ministry said in a statement that Saudi enemy aircraft targeted the Hadara market. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed three airstrikes hit the market around 7 a.m. and blamed Saudi Arabia for the attack.

The Houthi Health Ministry spokesperson, Anees Alsabahi, told Houthi-run TV Al Masirah that the death toll was expected to rise. He also stated that 15 people were wounded, though another report from the ministry cited eight injuries.

Authorities affiliated with the Yemeni government in Taiz denied that any airstrikes occurred in the area. The provincial media office blamed the Houthis for the incident, stating that indiscriminate Houthi missile attacks endanger civilian lives.

The Associated Press could not independently verify the claims of responsibility from either side. Saudi Arabia's information ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the incident.
