One woman killed and four injured in Tampa Citibank shooting

A gunman was shot dead by a security guard after attacking a corporate campus in Florida on Wednesday.

A gunman killed one woman and injured four others at the Citibank corporate campus in Brandon, near Tampa, on Wednesday, according to reports by Times Now and the New York Post.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister described the shooting as a targeted attack. The suspect was shot and killed by an armed Citibank security guard after a confrontation, according to Chief Deputy Frank Losatt.

The incident began when the suspect drove a vehicle over medians and grass before breaking through a secure fence and hitting an outdoor dining area. The gunman, who was reportedly shirtless and carrying an AR-style rifle, then shot a woman believed to be a vendor at the site.

The four other victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) deployed 367 deputies and a SWAT team to conduct room-by-room sweeps of the Sabal Center campus. Employees were moved to a reunification site in a nearby parking lot.

An emergency alert instructed people in the Sabal Park Business Area and those at nearby Hillsborough College to shelter in place. Citibank stated it is aware of the incident and is coordinating with law enforcement.
