US singer Bob Dylan meets Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City

US singer-songwriter Bob Dylan met Pope Leo XIV at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City on Wednesday. The meeting occurred during the Rome stop of the 85-year-old's Italian tour, according to BBC News.
The brief meeting between the two US Midwest natives involved an exchange of gifts. Pope Leo XIV presented the Nobel laureate with a rosary, while Dylan gifted the Pope a copy of his autobiography, Chronicles: Volume One.
The visit took place before Dylan's scheduled performance on Thursday at the Palazzo dello Sport as part of his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour. The singer wore a nearly all-black outfit, including a hoodie, gloves and an umbrella.
This was the second time Dylan has met a pope. In 1997, he performed four songs, including Knockin' on Heaven's Door, for Pope John Paul II at the 23rd National Eucharistic Congress in Bologna.
Pope Leo XIV has previously referenced Dylan's work. The Pope quoted Dylan's unreleased 1963 anti-nuclear song, Go Away You Bomb, in the preface to his book, Disarmed and Disarming: Peace Is a Gift.
