Bengaluru accounts for 13 per cent of Karnataka guarantee scheme spend

The city has received Rs 20,632 crore out of the total Rs 1.54 lakh crore spent on the five state government guarantees.

Bengaluru has accounted for nearly 13 per cent of the total expenditure on the five guarantee schemes implemented by the state government, according to data released by the Guarantee Implementation Committee for Bengaluru.

The Deccan Herald reported that of the Rs 1.54 lakh crore spent on these schemes across Karnataka, Rs 20,632 crore has been spent in Bengaluru.

G Krishnappa, Chairman of the committee, said that close to 500 people are working at various levels to ensure the schemes reach all beneficiaries.

The committee reviewed the progress of the schemes in Bengaluru on Wednesday and requested the government to release ward-wise data to better track implementation and identify lags.

Krishnappa stated that Bescom has completed the verification of nearly 99 per cent of Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries.

The committee noted that 18,522 Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries in Bengaluru had passed away by July, and the reverification of Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries will begin soon.
