Easy Registry system improves property registration services in Punjab
The digital initiative has processed 9,87,425 documents since its pilot launch in Mohali in July 2025, according to The Tribune.
The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has implemented the 'Easy Registry' system to make property registration more digital and time-bound. According to The Tribune, the initiative started as a pilot project in Mohali in July 2025.
Between July 2025 and 8 September 2026, the system registered 9,87,425 documents across the state. The model has shifted services from an office-based system to an online, time-bound process.
The system uses a token and fixed appointment method to reduce waiting times. Beneficiaries reported that most registrations were completed in approximately 35 minutes on the scheduled day.
To increase transparency, a 'First In - First Out' system ensures files are processed in the order they are received. The process includes pre-scrutiny of documents and a fixed time limit for objections.
Citizens can now complete registrations at any sub-registrar office within their district. The system also features online deed drafting, digital payments through 25 integrated banks, and WhatsApp updates for application status.
Technical updates include the automatic preparation of digital fard via the Jamabandi portal. Identity verification is now managed through consent-based e-KYC.
