Three BSF personnel injured in mob attack in Tripura

A clash between Border Security Force personnel and locals in Sepahijala district left three soldiers and a youth injured.

Three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured during an attack by a mob in the Ashabari area of Tripura's Sepahijala district on Monday, according to reports from Telangana Today, The Hindu and The News Mill.

The incident reportedly occurred near the Boxanagar-Rahimpur road after personnel from the 49th Battalion detained a person identified as Hefzur Rahman on suspicion of smuggling. Following the detention, locals blocked the road and attacked a BSF vehicle with sticks and bamboo.

The injured included Company Commander Rohit and two other personnel. A local youth also sustained a leg fracture during the clash. The injured were taken to the Boxanagar Primary Health Centre and later shifted to Tripura Medical College and BRAM Hospital in Agartala.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha condemned the assault, calling the attack on security forces unacceptable and a matter of grave concern. He directed authorities to take swift and stringent action against those responsible.

Security has been tightened in the area with the deployment of armed police and Tripura State Rifles personnel. The Boxanagar Police are leading the investigation and have filed two First Information Reports, though no arrests have been made so far.
