Sanjay Raut targets NCP after leaders meet Amit Shah

The Shiv Sena (UBT) MP alleged the party was sacrificed to Gujarati business interests following a Delhi meeting.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut criticised the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday, alleging the party had been sacrificed to Gujarati business interests. According to Moneycontrol, Raut made these remarks on X following a meeting in Delhi between six senior NCP leaders and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Raut, who described the NCP as the bulwark of Maharashtra's pride, also called the leaders sycophants and fools. He claimed the party, which was founded by a bold Marathi man, had been surrendered to outside interests.

The NCP delegation included national working president Praful Patel, Maharashtra unit president Sunil Tatkare, Chhagan Bhujbal, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, and Dilip Walse Patil. The meeting occurred as the NCP seeks the return of the Maharashtra Finance Ministry portfolio, which currently remains with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The absence of NCP president Sunetra Pawar and her son, Rajya Sabha MP Parth Pawar, from the Delhi talks led to reports of internal differences. However, NCP national chief spokesperson Umesh Patil rejected claims of a rift, stating the meeting was pre-arranged and the party remains united under Sunetra Pawar.

Sunil Tatkare confirmed after a Mumbai meeting on Monday night that the Finance portfolio was discussed with Shah. Chhagan Bhujbal had noted that the Chief Minister indicated the portfolio might be returned before the winter session of the Maharashtra legislature.
