Doctors' body seeks Rajasthan CM intervention over medical college ragging

The United Doctors Front has called for a statewide investigation following ragging complaints at 12 medical colleges in October 2026.

The United Doctors Front (UDF) has sought the personal intervention of the Rajasthan Chief Minister regarding repeated complaints of ragging, harassment, and intimidation in medical colleges across the state. According to Medical Dialogues, the doctors' body reported that instances of ragging were noted in 12 medical colleges during October 2026.

The UDF submitted representations to the Chief Minister, the Commissioner of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Rajasthan, and the Director General of Police (DGP) Rajasthan. The association is calling for an independent, statewide, and time-bound investigation into all complaints reported during the month.

The reported institutions include Government Medical College Kota, Dr. S.N. Medical College Jodhpur, Bhilwara Medical College, Government Medical College Chittorgarh, Sardar Patel Medical College Bikaner, ESIC Medical College Jaipur, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College Jaipur, JIET Medical College Jodhpur, and medical colleges in Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Pali, and Barmer.

Allegations include coercive late-night hostel gatherings, forced introductions, humiliating activities, abusive language, threats of academic retaliation, and social exclusion. The UDF stated that the frequency of these complaints raises concerns regarding the effectiveness of existing anti-ragging mechanisms and institutional supervision.

The association has demanded accountability for Deans, Principals, and institutional authorities to ensure the implementation of regulations and adequate hostel supervision. The UDF also noted that the National Medical Commission (NMC) Anti-Ragging Cell has taken cognisance of complaints and sought Action Taken Reports from several institutions.
