Opposition is running a malicious campaign, says Bhagwant Mann
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann challenged opposition leaders to prove any corruption allegations against him during an event in Mohali.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused the opposition on Tuesday of conducting a malicious campaign against him because they cannot accept the pace of development in the state. According to the Hindustan Times, Mann made these remarks in Mohali after distributing appointment letters to 801 new employees.
Mann claimed that leaders from the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal are working together to defame him. He stated that these parties previously led Punjab into economic and social distress through self-serving politics and challenged them to prove any corruption allegations against him or quit politics.
The Chief Minister said the new recruits were appointed to various sectors, including the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, the home department, prisons, forest, and social security. He also noted roles in the departments of public works, housing, labour, cooperative, and general administration.
Mann stated that since his government took office in 2022, a total of 71,777 government jobs have been provided. He added that these appointments are based on merit rather than political connections or money.
The Chief Minister announced that job letters for an additional 600 people will be issued next week. He encouraged the new employees to prepare for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations to become IAS and IPS officers.
