AAHL CEO rules out entry into airline business

Adani Airport Holdings Ltd CEO Arun Bansal said competing with airline customers would not be a sound strategy.

Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) CEO Arun Bansal said on Tuesday that the company does not plan to enter the airline business. Speaking at the Aviation India and South Asia 2026 conference in the national capital, Bansal stated that airlines are the customers of AAHL and it is not a good strategy to compete with them.

According to BusinessLine, Bansal also clarified that AAHL and the Adani Group should be segregated in this context. While reports had suggested the Adani Group was keen to enter the airline sector, the group has denied such reports.

AAHL currently has eight airports in its portfolio and handles approximately 100 million passengers annually. The company aims to increase this figure to 300 million passengers per year over the next ten years.

Bansal noted that AAHL will participate in the privatisation process for airports. He also mentioned that work is underway to increase airside capacity at the Mumbai airport, which is part of the AAHL portfolio.

The renovation of Terminal 1 at the Mumbai airport is expected to be completed in early 2030. The company's portfolio also includes the Navi Mumbai airport.
