Bayer raises 2026 profit outlook on strong pharmaceutical performance

The German group increased its earnings forecast following third-quarter pharmaceutical sales that exceeded market expectations, according to the Economic Times.

German pharmaceuticals and agriculture group Bayer raised its profit outlook for 2026 on Tuesday, citing better than expected results in its pharmaceutical division, according to a Reuters report cited by the Economic Times.

The company now projects its currency-adjusted core earnings to fall between 9.8 billion euros and 10.3 billion euros for 2026. This is an increase from the previous estimate of 9.6 billion euros to 10.1 billion euros.

Bayer's pharmaceutical business recorded third-quarter sales of 4.68 billion euros, which was 5 per cent higher than analyst expectations according to a Vara Research poll.

Chief Executive Officer Bill Anderson said the pharmaceutical business has hit a significant turning point in its growth trajectory and that the company is seeing performance improvements.

The group also reduced its full-year net financial debt expectations by 1 billion euros. Bayer now anticipates net financial debt will be between 28 billion euros and 29 billion euros.
