Assam to host grand Cooperative Conclave in December

Cooperation Minister Kaushik Rai announced the event during an interaction with cooperative societies in Nalbari to showcase achievements and explore new opportunities.

The Assam government plans to organise a grand Cooperative Conclave in December to strengthen the cooperative movement, according to the Indian Cooperative.

Cooperation Minister Kaushik Rai announced the plan during an interaction with cooperative societies in Nalbari. The event aims to provide a platform to showcase cooperative achievements and explore new opportunities.

Rai noted that cooperatives in Nalbari are contributing to sectors such as dairy, handloom, and the traditional Japi industry. He said these contributions reflect the strength of grassroots self-reliance.

The Minister urged farmers and cooperative societies to focus on organised potato cultivation. He stated this could help farmers secure fair prices and an assured market by leveraging the presence of the first PepsiCo plant in Northeast India located in Nalbari.

Rai also suggested that local societies showcase their products at the Nalbari Raas Mahotsav to increase visibility and reach consumers. He said organised production could reduce dependence on middlemen.

Assam Cabinet colleague Jayanta Malla Baruah and senior officials were present during the interaction in Nalbari.
