Goa: MGP to seek fire relief for Vasco market traders

The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party will urge the state government to release financial aid to affected vendors before Diwali.

The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) will press the Goa government to release financial assistance to traders affected by a fire at the Vasco market before Diwali, according to a report by Urban Acres.

MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar said on Sunday that the party will raise the issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane.

Dhavalikar stated that disbursing financial assistance before Diwali would provide relief and help traders restart their businesses in the modern market complex.

The MGP president also said the party would extend financial assistance to the fire victims and urged the traders' association to submit a list of affected vendors for consideration.

Dhavalikar pointed to possible lapses in safety arrangements by municipal authorities regarding the incident at the municipal market complex.

The party intends to follow up with authorities to ensure the assistance is disbursed at the earliest.
