KTR demands Rs 60,000 per acre for Telangana farmers

BRS Working President KTR alleged that the Congress government created drought-like conditions across the state.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao, known as KTR, demanded on Sunday that the Congress government pay farmers Rs 60,000 per acre in Adilabad. According to reports from The Pioneer and ANI, the requested amount includes three withheld Rythu Bandhu instalments and investment assistance for the current Yasangi season.

Addressing the Rythu Garjana public meeting, KTR alleged that the Revanth Reddy government's failures caused the drought-like conditions in Telangana. He stated that this was not a natural drought but one created by the Congress party. He further claimed that despite having enough irrigation resources, farmers are facing distress.

KTR noted that Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have not faced similar drought conditions despite having nearly twice the rainfall deficit of Telangana. He also said the government cannot blame El Nino for the situation and accused officials of failing to use available Godavari waters.

The BRS leader claimed that approximately one lakh cusecs of water were moving downstream from the Kannepalli pump house without being collected. He argued that if the Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Rangareddy projects were used correctly, no farmland would have dried up.

KTR also questioned the status of the Rs 2 lakh loan waiver and assistance for tenant farmers. He accused the Congress and BJP of neglecting Telangana, alleging that the government has weakened the power sector and failed to protect industries.
