SBI profit after tax could rise up to 25.2 per cent
Brokerage estimates suggest steady net interest income growth for the country's largest public sector lender.
State Bank of India (SBI) is expected to report its financial results for the quarter and half-year ended September 30, 2026, on Tuesday, November 3, according to the Economic Times. The bank's Central Board will meet in Mumbai to consider these results.
Brokerage projections for the bank's profit after tax (PAT) range from Rs 20,378 crore to Rs 25,250 crore. Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOFSL) is the most optimistic, estimating a PAT of Rs 25,250 crore, which would be a 25.2 per cent year-on-year increase.
Net interest income (NII) is expected to grow between 11 per cent and 13 per cent year-on-year. MOFSL expects NII to rise 11.3 per cent to Rs 47,850 crore, while JM Financial projects it at Rs 48,562.5 crore, a 13 per cent increase.
Net interest margins (NIMs) are likely to see a sequential decline of 3 to 5 basis points. MOFSL anticipates NIMs will drop 3 basis points to 2.83 per cent, citing lower foreign currency non-resident (FCNR(B)) deposits.
Analysts will also monitor deposit mobilisation and loan growth. JM Financial estimates deposits at Rs 62.76 lakh crore, while MOFSL expects loans to reach Rs 51.8 lakh crore, driven by segments such as small and medium enterprises and agriculture.
Asset quality is expected to remain stable. MOFSL predicts the gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio will moderate to 1.4 per cent from 1.5 per cent in the previous quarter.
