SBI General Insurance to distribute crop insurance documents in nine states
The insurer will conduct outreach in Assam and eight other states under the Centre's Meri Policy Mere Haath campaign.
SBI General Insurance plans to deliver Kharif 2026 crop insurance policy documents to farmers in Assam and eight other states, according to The News Mill.
The outreach is part of the Centre’s Meri Policy Mere Haath campaign. The company, which acts as an implementing insurer for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), will collaborate with local stakeholders and state governments to increase awareness of the scheme.
The nine states involved include Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Jharkhand.
The company intends to host policy distribution camps through Fasal Bima Pathshalas, Kisan Melas, and Kisan Goshtis. These events will allow farmers to seek guidance and provide feedback on the scheme.
SBI General Insurance also plans to hold activities for the International Year of Women Farmers and the PMFBY@10 Farmer Champions initiative. The former will feature workshops led by women farmers, while the latter will recognise beneficiaries from the last 10 years as farmer champions.
Naveen Chandra Jha, managing director and chief executive officer of SBI General Insurance, said the outreach aims to ensure farmers feel informed and supported under PMFBY.
