Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has promised financial relief and a Sub-Inspector job for the wife of Dilip Puri.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday announced Rs 1 crore in financial assistance and a Sub-Inspector position for the wife of Khategaon police station in-charge Dilip Puri. According to ANI, the officer died while performing his duties during an operation against illegal liquor transport in Dewas district.

The incident occurred late on Sunday night on the Harda-Nemawar highway. A truck, which was suspected of carrying illicit alcohol, allegedly ran over Puri as he attempted to intercept the vehicle, according to reports from The Hawk and The Assam Tribune.

Dewas Superintendent of Police Aditya Mishra stated that more than five teams had been formed to verify intelligence regarding the suspected smuggling. Following the accident, Puri was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

Chief Minister Yadav has ordered an impartial investigation into the matter and stated that Special Director General of Police Upendra Jain has been sent to the site to supervise the probe. The police have seized the vehicle and arrested the driver.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also paid tribute to the 2007-batch officer, describing his death as a supreme sacrifice. Puri's remains were sent to his ancestral village in Dhar district following a post-mortem examination.
