Telangana to conduct joint surveys to settle land boundary disputes

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directed departments to coordinate efforts to prevent hardship for farmers and landowners.

The Telangana government will carry out joint surveys through the Revenue and Forest departments to resolve long-standing disputes regarding land boundaries, according to The Hindu.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy instructed officials from both departments to coordinate closely to ensure that farmers and ordinary citizens do not suffer from inter-departmental boundary disagreements.

Speaking at a review meeting with Revenue, Forest, and Survey and Settlement officials at the Secretariat, the Minister stated that the government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is committed to settling land issues that have remained unresolved for decades.

Mr. Ponguleti noted that boundary disputes have persisted for several decades in areas with significant forest cover, such as the former Khammam, Warangal, and Adilabad districts.

The Minister called for the use of scientific and technology-based joint surveys to establish clear boundaries and requested that officials reconcile land records, maps, and survey details based on ground positions.

He said matters that can be settled at the field level should be resolved locally, while others should be referred to the State government. Mr. Ponguleti added that he will personally monitor the progress of the survey exercise.
