Centre notifies grievance redressal rules for VB-G RAM G Act
State governments must establish a three-tier mechanism to resolve rural employment scheme complaints within 15 days.
The Union Ministry of Rural Development has notified new rules for grievance redressal under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025. According to The Hindu, the rules mandate that any complaints regarding the rural employment scheme's implementation must be settled within 15 days.
Under the new framework, state governments are required to set up a three-tier system at the gram panchayat, block, and district levels. Designated officers at each level will be responsible for receiving, registering, investigating, and resolving grievances.
Citizens can submit complaints in person, via telephone helplines, speed post, a digital platform, or other methods chosen by state governments. The ministry stated that no grievance can be denied registration due to its language, format, or any procedural issues.
The rules require enquiries to be finished within seven working days of receipt. If a complaint is not resolved within the 15-day limit, it will be escalated to the next higher level and monitored electronically until it is settled.
A district programme coordinator will supervise the redressal process at the district level. The rules also allow for appeals against orders issued through this mechanism, as per the provisions of the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025.
