Probe into Siddaramaiah sting video links to Kumaraswamy's Delhi residence
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said investigators found a connection between the fabricated video and the Union Minister's official home.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) is investigating a fabricated sting video involving former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, which has been linked to the New Delhi residence of Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, according to The Hindu.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh stated that the mobile phone used to upload the video was reportedly given to the arrested accused, Ritesh Pandey, at Kumaraswamy’s official residence in the national capital.
Pandey, a freelance social media influencer, allegedly claimed that Prajwal Prasad and Vinod Sharma assigned him the task. Prasad is a former journalist currently working with Kumaraswamy’s IT social media team.
Investigators found that the mobile phone was bought in Karol Bagh, Delhi, specifically for the operation. Police are also examining financial transactions between Prasad and Pandey.
The Commissioner said notices were issued to Prasad and Sharma, who are currently absconding and have reportedly moved for anticipatory bail. Singh noted that progress depends on securing and questioning both individuals.
Siddaramaiah has maintained that the allegations in the video are baseless. The police have stated that the video appears to be part of a fabricated narrative.
