Thane and Hingoli courts evacuated following bomb threat emails
Police and security agencies conducted searches at the Maharashtra court premises after receiving threatening messages on Monday.
The district and sessions courts in Thane and Hingoli, Maharashtra, were evacuated on Monday after receiving emails threatening bomb blasts on the premises, according to reports by The Hindu and ThePrint.
In Thane, the court building was evacuated in the afternoon after an office received a message stating a bomb would explode at 3.30 pm. Personnel from the Thane Nagar police station led judges, advocates, and staff members out of the complex safely.
A dog squad and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted a thorough search of the Thane premises, but nothing suspicious was found, an official said. The Free Press Journal reported that the threatening email was allegedly sent from Canada and mentioned other districts, including Satara and Mumbai.
In Hingoli, the threat was discovered after the court opened in the morning. Following the alert, a police team and the BDDS arrived at the location to search the building.
An official stated that the email might be a hoax. The Hingoli cybercrime unit has started an investigation to identify the origin of the message.
