Telangana labour department summons Irumudi makers over child actor concerns
Mythri Movie Makers must attend a meeting on November 4 regarding the working conditions and safety of child actor Nakshathra.
The Telangana labour department has issued a notice to the producers of the film Irumudi following a complaint about child actor Nakshathra. The department is investigating the minor's involvement in filming and promotional events.
C Mahesh Babu, founder-president of Jai Lok Satta, filed the complaint. He raised concerns regarding the child's pay, schedule, and other related matters.
The joint commissioner of labour for the Ranga Reddy Zone has scheduled a meeting with Mythri Movie Makers. The session will take place on November 4 at Anjaiah Karmika Samkshema Bhavan in RTC X Roads.
Officials have requested several documents, including parental consent, District Magistrate permission, and safety protocols. They are also seeking attendance records and educational arrangements for the child.
The production house must provide details on whether 20 per cent of the actor's earnings were placed in a fixed deposit in her name. The department is also looking into whether language used at a promotional event affected the child's safety and dignity.
The investigation follows an August event where actor Ravi Teja allegedly used an objectionable term to describe Nakshathra. The film, directed by Shiva Nirvana, was released on August 21.
