Kerala Blasters coach Ashley Westwood discusses half-time talk after Chennaiyin draw

Head coach Ashley Westwood told his players they would improve in the second half during the goalless derby against Chennaiyin FC.

Kerala Blasters head coach Ashley Westwood revealed he told his players they would improve in the second half during Saturday's goalless draw against Chennaiyin FC. According to The New Indian Express, the visiting team struggled in the first half as most play occurred in their defence.

Westwood said in a post-match press conference on Saturday that he challenged wingers Mohammed Sanan and Kourou Singh to get past the opposition full-backs. He stated he told them to ask the opposition full-backs questions to see if they could produce.

The coach noted that the team made positive substitutions by bringing on Vibin Mohanan, Sree Kuttan, and Momo Yansane. Five minutes into the second half, Uruguayan midfielder Adrian Luna missed a penalty kick.

Westwood said the team was disappointed not to win but was okay with the point. He noted the team has had less than a month of training with 14 new players and new staff.

The English coach added that while players are getting the ball in good areas, they are not producing in vital moments. He said the team needs more time, practice, and game sharpness to improve consistency.
