TPSODL restores power to over 17 lakh consumers in southern Odisha

The company has achieved 96.32 per cent restoration across eight districts following the impact of Cyclone Arnab.

TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has restored electricity to over 17.23 lakh consumers across southern Odisha following Cyclone Arnab, heavy rainfall and flooding, according to Odisha Bytes.

The joint venture between Tata Power and the Odisha government has achieved 96.32 per cent restoration, reconnecting 17,23,185 of the 17,88,942 affected consumers across eight operational districts.

TPSODL CEO Amit Garg said the progress reflects the dedication of frontline teams working through heavy rainfall and flooding. He noted that certain pockets, particularly in Ganjam, continue to face challenges due to waterlogging and difficult site conditions.

In Ganjam, the company restored electricity to 7,73,129 of the 8,29,292 affected consumers. Other districts like Malkangiri, Boudh and Rayagada have achieved 100 per cent consumer restoration.

In Gajapati, 1,48,310 of 1,54,337 affected consumers have been reconnected, while Kandhamal recorded 99.13 per cent restoration. Nabarangpur and Koraput have also reported high restoration rates.

The cyclone, which made landfall on October 28, caused damage to electricity poles and power lines. Teams are continuing to work to reconnect the remaining 65,757 affected consumers.
