Mathura court sentences temple priest to life imprisonment for obscene videos

The convict, Shyam Bihari, was found guilty of recording adolescent girls and selling the footage to individuals living abroad, according to The Hindu.

A court in Mathura has sentenced a temple priest to life imprisonment for recording obscene videos of adolescent girls and selling them to foreigners, according to a report by The Hindu on Sunday.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Brijesh Kumar delivered the judgment on Friday, which also included a fine of ₹1.43 lakh on the convict, Shyam Bihari, Assistant Advocate Rampal Singh said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR on June 17, 2025, after receiving information from Interpol. The agency later apprehended the priest at a temple located within the Jaint police station area.

The prosecution stated that the priest lured girls to a room by offering them prasad, where he engaged in obscene acts and recorded them. Mr Singh said these videos were then sold online to people abroad.

The CBI completed its investigation within one month and filed a chargesheet in court on August 18, 2025.
