ISRO successfully launches NVS-03 navigation satellite from Sriharikota
The GSLV-F18 launch vehicle placed the third next-generation satellite into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit on 30 October.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) completed the GSLV-F18/NVS-03 mission on 30 October 2026 at 23:51 hours, according to Tripura Star News.
The launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota. The GSLV-F18 vehicle moved the NVS-03 navigation satellite into a precise Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
A first orbit manoeuvre was finished on 31 October 2026 at 16:48 hours. ISRO plans additional manoeuvres to move the satellite to its assigned orbital slot at 111.75° East.
NVS-03 is the third of five next-generation satellites intended to support the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC). This series aims to increase the coverage, reliability and availability of NavIC services.
NavIC offers two navigation services for authorised strategic users and civilians. While NVS-01, NVS-02, and NVS-03 have been launched, NVS-04 and NVS-05 are still under development.
