Punjab CM transfers Rs 1,291 crore to 37.43 lakh women

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched the next phase of the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana in Abohar on Sunday.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann transferred Rs 1,291 crore to 37.43 lakh women across the state on Sunday, according to The Tribune. The Chief Minister launched the next phase of the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana during an event in Abohar.

Mann stated that 80.05 lakh women had registered for the scheme as of October 29. He said the government is working to reach its target of covering one crore women.

During his address, Mann alleged that most sacrilege incidents in Punjab occurred during the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) regime. He also criticised SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, stating that those who claimed they would rule for 25 years are now struggling to find 25 people to run their party.

The event saw the presence of AAP Punjab president Aman Arora and Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur. Abohar AAP halqa in-charge Suhani Doda was also present alongside the Chief Minister.

Gunwant Singh Sandhu, general secretary of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Khosa), Punjab, alleged that 5 to 8 kg per quintal is being deducted during paddy procurement due to moisture and quality issues. He said farmers intended to raise this matter with the Chief Minister.

Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar claimed he was prevented from meeting the Chief Minister. Jakhar alleged that police confined him to a hospital where family members of Ajay Kumar had been protesting for two weeks.
