Panchayat Raj officials withdraw 11 road project proposals in Asifabad
The withdrawal of road and bridge proposals in forest areas has drawn criticism from residents of interior villages in Kumram Bheem Asifabad.
Panchayat Raj officials have withdrawn proposals for 11 road projects located in forest areas of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, according to Telangana Today.
The proposals were previously submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) PARIVESH portal to obtain environmental, forest, and wildlife clearances.
The withdrawn projects include a black top road connecting Jhaduguda to Kishanthanda in Kerameri mandal, a road in Tiryani mandal's Naguguda, and a stretch to Gundala via Doddiguda.
Other projects include roads to Alliguda in Keremari, from Karji to Motlaguda in Dahegaon, Gangapur-Korsini in Chintalamanepalli, Etiguda-Talai, Karjelli-Motlaguda, and Bejjur-Somini in Bejjur.
Panchayat Raj Executive Engineer Dharmendar stated that the proposals were cancelled following instructions from higher authorities after an MoEFCC-Chennai team visited the sites and did not approve the roads.
He explained that the department decided to cancel the projects because they failed to secure clearances at stage I and II.
