Order any inquiry against me, says HD Kumaraswamy
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy challenged the Karnataka government to investigate his alleged role in the 2011 KPSC recruitment controversy.
Union Minister and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday challenged the Karnataka government to conduct an inquiry into his alleged involvement in the 2011 KPSC recruitment controversy. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Kumaraswamy stated that neither he nor former prime minister HD Deve Gowda had any personal interest in the selection of 364 candidates.
According to The New Indian Express, Kumaraswamy noted that the recruitment process faced scrutiny following a 2014 complaint by an assistant commissioner's daughter, which led to a CID inquiry. He said he was ready to face any investigation regarding allegations of irregularities.
Defending the selected individuals, Kumaraswamy said many came from economically weaker backgrounds and had worked as labourers. He mentioned a visually impaired person who secured a position as a tahsildar and argued that claims of bribery were unfair to deserving candidates.
Regarding reports of a potential raid at his home, Kumaraswamy suggested the event might have been staged like a studio set. He declined to discuss the matter further at that time.
On political developments, Kumaraswamy said discussions regarding Rahul Gandhi's reported phone call could take place after the Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations. He also advised Minister Priyank Kharge to understand ground realities concerning Union Heavy Industries Ministry initiatives.
Kumaraswamy added that the Centre is working on proposals to manufacture tunnel boring machines and heavy machinery in India to reduce dependence on imports from China.
