KEA to hold special stray vacancy round for medical seats
The Karnataka Examinations Authority will conduct a special counselling round to fill 191 vacant medical seats in the state.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has decided to hold a special stray vacancy round of counselling to fill vacant medical seats, according to the Deccan Herald. This decision follows the announcement of a special counselling schedule by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
In Karnataka, 191 medical seats remain unfilled despite the completion of multiple counselling rounds. KEA Executive Director Prasanna H said that candidates who have not yet registered can apply online to participate. Those who have not been allotted a medical seat are also eligible, while candidates with dental seats may participate if they apply specifically for medical seats.
The KEA schedule includes fresh registration from November 2 to 4. Advance fee payments are set for November 4 to 6, with the amount being Rs 25 lakh for medical seats and Rs 1 lakh for dental seats. Option entry for seat selection will occur between November 6 and 9.
Counselling results are expected to be announced on November 11 at 1:00 PM. Candidates must complete admission formalities and pay the remaining fees at their respective colleges by November 13.
The MCC of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has also announced a special stray vacancy round for NEET UG 2026. This follows reports that around 2,000 MBBS seats are vacant across the country, with states including Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal, and Rajasthan reporting more than 100 vacant seats each.
