The weather system is expected to reach the west-central Bay of Bengal by the evening of November 2, according to the IMD.
A well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea is likely to strengthen into a depression, according to reports by Telangana Today, Business Standard and Deccan Chronicle.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Saturday that the system, which was located near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 5:30 am, is moving in a west-north-westward direction.
Manorama Mohanty, the director of the meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar, said the system is predicted to develop into a depression within the next 12 hours.
The weather system is expected to continue moving west-north-westwards and reach the west-central Bay of Bengal near the Andhra Pradesh coast by the evening of November 2.
Mohanty noted that the IMD has not yet released specific details regarding how the system might affect Odisha, but officials are monitoring its progress.
The IMD has predicted light to moderate thundershowers or rain for several districts in Odisha.
