Labour officials summon Irumudi makers over minor's involvement in film promotions
The Telangana Labour Department has requested documents from the producers following allegations that a minor was used for film shooting and promotional activities.
The Labour Department has summoned the makers of the Telugu film Irumudi regarding a complaint that a minor girl was involved in shooting and promotional work, according to Telangana Today.
The notice follows a complaint by Jai Lok Satta founder-president C Mahesh Babu, which alleges that the production violated child labour regulations.
The Joint Commissioner of Labour for the Ranga Reddy Zone has called for a meeting with the production management on November 4 at the Anjaiah Karmika Samkshema Bhavan in RTC X Roads.
Officials have requested several documents, including parental consent, District Magistrate permission, attendance records, working hours, safety measures, and educational arrangements.
The department has also asked for records of the minor's participation in promotions and proof of whether 20 per cent of her earnings were placed in a fixed deposit in her name.
Authorities intend to examine if the language and conversations used during promotional events impacted the girl's safety and dignity. Producers must attend the meeting with records or send an authorised representative.
