Kerala University of Health Sciences to launch six-month Care Science programme
The university Senate unanimously approved the certificate course to improve caregiving quality for children, the elderly, and the general public.
The Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) will introduce a six-month certificate programme in Care Science, according to The Hindu.
The university Senate approved an emergency resolution for the course during its ninth meeting of the second Senate held on Saturday at the university’s Senate Hall in Thrissur.
Vice-Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal, who presided over the meeting, said the programme aims to offer systematic training in childcare, geriatric care, and general caregiving.
The initiative intends to provide unemployed individuals with practical skills to help them find jobs within the caregiving sector.
By running the course directly, the university seeks to increase the number of trained caregivers and ensure safer, more systematic care in homes and the community.
During the meeting, Senate members also raised questions regarding examination procedures, hostel facilities, academic matters, and anti-drug initiatives for students.
