Omron Healthcare starts blood pressure monitor production at Tamil Nadu plant
The company plans to increase the production capacity of its new Chennai facility tenfold by 2028.
Japan-based medical devices maker OMRON Healthcare has started manufacturing blood pressure monitors at its first Indian factory near Chennai. The facility is operated by OMRON Healthcare Manufacturing India Pvt Ltd at ORIGINS by Mahindra.
The plant covers approximately 24,000 square metres and contains five production lines for the domestic market. This move aims to support the government's 'Make in India' initiative.
Ayumu Okada, President and CEO of OMRON Healthcare Co, Ltd, said the start of full-scale production in Tamil Nadu is a key step to provide a steady supply of medical-grade monitors in India. He added that the company will continue to support the 'Make in India' initiative by strengthening local manufacturing.
OMRON Healthcare established its business in India in 2010 and reported a revenue of Rs 246 crore in FY25. The company currently employs about 210 people in the country.
The company, which has sold over 400 million units across 130 countries since 1973, has also collaborated with the Indian Society of Hypertension to create the country's first home blood pressure monitoring guidelines.
