Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah marries Nidhi Razdan

The marriage of the 56-year-old Chief Minister and the 49-year-old journalist was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah married television journalist Nidhi Razdan on Friday, according to reports from Hindustan Times, The New Indian Express and Deccan Herald. The ceremony was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act in New Delhi and was attended by family members and close relatives from both sides.

The couple announced the news on social media on Saturday. Abdullah, 56, posted photographs on X with the caption, “A new journey began yesterday,” while Razdan, 49, wrote, “It’s done bro.” Wedding functions were also held in Srinagar.

The marriage is the second for both individuals. Abdullah was previously married to Payal Nath in 1994 and has two sons, Zahir and Zamir. The Supreme Court dissolved that marriage in July this year following an amicable settlement.

Razdan was previously married to Neelesh Misra in 2005, with the marriage ending in divorce in 2007.

The wedding functions in Srinagar and New Delhi were attended by several family members. These included Abdullah's parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, and his three sisters, as well as Razdan's parents, M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan.
