Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah marries Nidhi Razdan
The 56-year-old Chief Minister announced his marriage to the journalist on Saturday following a ceremony in New Delhi.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, 56, married journalist Nidhi Razdan in a ceremony held in New Delhi on Friday, according to reports by The Hindu, India Today and Hindustan Times.
Mr. Abdullah announced the marriage on social media on Saturday, stating, “A new journey began yesterday.” Ms.
Razdan, 49, also confirmed the news on X, writing, “It’s done bro.”
Family sources said the marriage was formally registered on October 30. A family function was held in Srinagar earlier this month. The wedding functions in Srinagar and New Delhi were attended by family members, including Mr.
Abdullah's parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, and Ms. Razdan's parents, M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan.
The marriage follows a legal process regarding Mr. Abdullah's previous marriage. On July 31, 2026, the Supreme Court of India granted a divorce to Mr.
Abdullah and Payal Nath through a mutual consent settlement. This came after Mr. Abdullah challenged a Delhi High Court decision.
Mr. Abdullah and Ms. Nath married in 1994 and have two sons, Zahir and Zamir.
The couple had been living separately since 2009, and Mr. Abdullah announced their separation in 2011.
