HMT to unveil new Kannadiga watch collection in Bengaluru

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy announced the collection will feature Kannada numericals and a Gandabherunda emblem to mark the 71st Kannada Rajyotsava.

Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) will launch a new watch collection named “HMT Kannadiga” on Sunday evening at the HMT Grounds in north Bengaluru. According to The Hindu, the unveiling coincides with the 71st Kannada Rajyotsava.

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy announced on Saturday that the watches will come in four different styles and two variants, including strap and chain. The strap variants will feature genuine Italian leather straps costing ₹450 each.

The watches will include Kannada numericals, a Gandabherunda emblem, a yellow-red Kannada flag, and the series name in Kannada letters. Officials stated the timepieces will feature radium glow and modern technology.

The estimated costs for the new collection are ₹3,500 and ₹3,600, which will place them in HMT's premium segment. Addressing the media in New Delhi, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the initiative is a special contribution to Karnataka.

HMT enthusiast Suman T. said the company is releasing a new collection after a long time and suggested the PSU consider manufacturing models like Gandabherunda and Roman in bulk.
