Dhruv Jurel led a lower-order recovery to take India A to 291/7 on the first day of the second unofficial Test.

Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 99 to help India A reach 291/7 against New Zealand A on Saturday. The visitors finished the opening day of the second unofficial Test at Hagley Oval in Christchurch after a middle-order collapse, according to reports by The Times of India, Free Press Journal and Telangana Today.

India A faced an early setback when Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a duck in the opening over by Fraser Sheat. Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal steadied the innings with a 91-run partnership for the second wicket. Sudharsan scored 41 before being caught off the bowling of Jarrod McKay.

Jurel, who is also the captain, then partnered with Manav Suthar for a 62-run stand for the seventh wicket. Suthar scored 22 before being dismissed by Jayden Lennox.

Jurel continued his innings alongside Akash Deep, adding an unbeaten 69 runs for the eighth wicket. Jurel finished the day on 99, striking 11 fours and three sixes, while Akash Deep remained unbeaten on 25.
