Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu cancels Delhi visit over cyclone threat

Chief Minister Naidu directed officials to prepare for a cyclone that may cross the coast near Bapatla on November 3.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu cancelled his scheduled visit to Delhi on Monday and instead held a review meeting on cyclone preparedness on Sunday.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to remain prepared for the impact of the weather system and to issue situation bulletins every four hours.

Officials told Naidu that the current depression is expected to become a severe cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal by November 2.

The storm may make landfall near Bapatla on the morning of November 3, with wind speeds reaching 100-110 kmph.

Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is predicted for November 3 and 4, with 20 mandals identified as high-risk areas. These include nine in Eluru, five in Krishna, five in NTR, and one in Bapatla.

Naidu also directed telecom operators to take precautions against connectivity disruptions and ordered advance arrangements for repairing electric poles across 12 districts.

The Chief Minister also reviewed relief and restoration operations following Cyclone Arnab, with officials stating power supply would be restored in all areas by Sunday night.
