Tamil Nadu CM Vijay announces 3 per cent DA hike
The Dearness Allowance for state government employees and teachers will increase to 63 per cent with retrospective effect from July 1.
Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has announced a three per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and teachers, according to a Deccan Chronicle report.
The DA rates will rise to 63 per cent from the previous 60 per cent. This change is effective retrospectively from July 1.
The decision will result in an extra annual cost of Rs 1,858 crore for the state government. The move aims to support 16 lakh people, including government employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners.
An official press release on Saturday stated that the Chief Minister decided to match the DA rate increase implemented by the Union government. The release noted that the measure would allow beneficiaries to celebrate the upcoming Deepavali festival.
The government stated the hike recognises the services of employees and teachers who helped implement welfare schemes under the current TVK government.
